The Story Isn't Over

Last year we had a Christmas poem writing contest. I wrote a poem for it, and I want to share it with you. Pretty much everything I want to say to you this Christmas lies in this poem. If you have already read it before, read it again.

"The person in the manger, was more than we think,

This tiny little bundle, wrinkled and pink.

He was more than a human, this little child,

More than a baby, yet meek and mild.

This little thing, born in a stall,

Was King of all Kings, and would never fall.

He was a Savior, but even more than that,

He was Messiah, and walked in the same world we’re at.

This little boy created the universe, He was fully God yet fully man,

This little boy created everything and everyone, like no other child or human can.

He is Emmanuel, 'God with us,'

Yet still a baby, who could cry and fuss.

Though He left everything, He came to save,

He took on human form, and conquered the grave.

The story doesn’t end at the manger, it doesn’t end at His birth,

The story will not end, until He reigns on earth.

This baby was more than what we see, this human born in a stall,

He is my Savior, my God, my Friend,

And He is Lord of all."

Have you ever thought of that? That the Christmas story doesn't end at the manger? After Christmas, the story isn't done. Christ didn't come as a baby and stay as a baby. He came and ministered on earth, and then the baby who was in a manger died for us. But the story didn't even end then! The baby who was in the manger, after He had grown up and died, rose for us. If Christ had just came and died, what hope would that have given us? None whatsoever. When did the Christmas story end? It hasn't ended yet. The Christmas story continues even with the baby out of the manger. The story will end when Christ is reigning on earth, and all sin is absent from the earth.

This Christmas, worship not only the baby who was in the manger, but the Christ who came to our world to die for us and reign on it later. After all, the manger is empty, but the Christmas story is not over yet.
